Healthy living is the new age mantra for people across all ages. Food that one should increase the intake of are: Green leafy vegetables like spinach, fenugreek, mustard leaves, cowpea leaves, other vegetables like lady finger, celery, cucumber, bottle gourd, bitter gourd, French beans, brinjal, onions, asparagus etc. Intake of fruits like apple, orange, papaya, guava, jamuns, lemons, peach, plum, kiwi, strawberry etc should also be taken once or twice a day.

Many dieticians recommend intake of nuts like almond, apricot, walnut, cashew nut etc. A handful of peanuts also provide you with the required quantity of nutrients. Also, people aiming for fat loss should consume skimmed milk. Curds and paneer made from cow’s milk should be consumed. This is because cow’s milk is low fat than buffalo’s milk. Drink plenty of water. It is said that adults should consume at least eight to ten glasses of water everyday. Also, drinking a glass of warm water with lemon juice in the morning helps in digestion. Amla juice is said to be very rich in vitamin C. Usage of amla should be increased especially during summers. One Amla has vitamin C which equals to the vitamin in fifteen oranges!

Decrease unhealthy food like noodles, biscuits, maida-made products and pickles. These substances harm the body. Also, people who drink five to six cups of tea or coffee should reduce it by one cup a day.  You can consult a dietician for more enquiries on the foods that you should select because each body is unique and will react differently to different foods.
